Tacos Los Altos - West Side

This has become my favorite Mexican restaurant in Flagstaff. Originally they were where Hiro's Sushi currently is, but they moved to the east side (to my disappointment). I rejoiced when they opened a new west side location. The carnitas and posole are outstanding. The breakfast skillets are great, when they're available. The chilaquiles are good.

The mojarra frita (fried whole fish) is a special treat: I order without fries, NOT extra crispy. Perfect! Best fish fry I've found since Field House dropped the catfish. Expensive, though.

I think the people are friendly, and the service is fine. My only complaint is that, while the salsa is good, there's a sign on the salsa bar asking people to limit how much they take. No other place in town does that!

Unfortunately, the place has gotten WAY too popular, and I've been staying away. It doesn't help that there's so much new construction going on nearby, and many of the workers eat there for lunch. Every now and then, I poke my nose in the door to assess the crowd level. If I think it's too busy, I'm gone. Hopefully, things will calm down again sometime in the future.
