While I don't really consider myself a "foodie" (I avoid trendy, upscale
restaurants, and shudder at sweet drizzles), I do enjoy going to a
variety of restaurants and exploring their menus. When I first moved to
Flagstaff in 1990, I tried to eat at every restaurant in town. I even
wrote a number of short reviews, which were never published (except a
handful on Yahoo), and it never occurred to me until recently to put any
on my website.
I abhor social media sites (I have no Facebook or Twitter accounts), and
after a few attempts on Yelp, I decided that I did not want to post
reviews on any third-party sites. Here, I have full control over my own
content, for better or worse. Even if it's less likely for anyone ever
to read a review on this site, I can write anything I please.
This will never be a comprehensive list of restaurants in Flagstaff,
for several reasons:
- Nowadays, restaurants come and go in Flagstaff faster than I can get
to them.
- Although I eat out frequently, it's pretty much only for lunch or
the occasional breakfast, almost never for dinner.
- I pretty much stick to the west side of Flagstaff, and only go to
the east side once in a while (usually to get my hair cut or volunteer
at the Food Kitchen). I almost never go downtown anymore.
- I tend to avoid upscale restaurants.
- I have a number of favorite places now that I tend to return to,
rather than eating elsewhere.
Having said that, here we go!
