Mama Burger

Flagstaff has burger joints coming out of the ears, and most of them are fried. Mama Burger has fried burgers, but they're big and fresh and juicy and delicious. The people there are very friendly if that's a deciding factor for you. My advice is to avoid the overrated big chains like Five Guys and In-N-Out (yes, one is coming to Flagstaff) and go to Mama Burger instead. If you want charcoal broiled burgers instead, then head over to Bun Huggers.

Their current location used to be Mrs. Brown's Burger Bar, which had buffalo burgers and a cult following. I was not really impressed with that place, however, and I think Mama Burger is far superior, even if I hardly ever go there, because it's out of the way for me. There is a drive-thru there as well, which I recently tried out.

When I was in Detroit, the place to go for burgers was the 3rd Street Bar. The place was a dive at the time, but they passed the litmus test: they could produce a well-done fried burger that was still juicy and delicious. They were open until 2 AM, and a burger paired with a Rolling Rock served as a perfect nightcap.
