Country Host isn't as good overall, but I still eat there because it's a convenient location, and I do like several of the items on the menu. My favorites are the country omelet, bandito burrito, trail boss chili, and Friday fish fry. Other items are OK, but nothing to write home about, and the menu seems to be a little pricey for what you get. Toast is almost always underdone, so request up front if you want it darker.
They just earned an increase in the service score: I was in the mood for chili & eggs, so I asked for a bowl of chili with two fried eggs on top, and they delivered! The eggs were a bit overdone, so next time I should specify sunny-side up.
Being fairly familiar with the menu, I tend to keep an eye on the specials. Recently, I tried a pot roast melt with green chilis, and while it wasn't quite as good as the cable car at Galaxy, it was still plenty good.
The Woodlands location has closed. There's a sign on the door blaming Flagstaff's new minimum wage law, but that's just bullshit: it hadn't even taken effect yet. The Butler location is still open, but it's right across the street from Northern Pines, which blows it out of the water. I probably won't eat there again.
