Campus Coffee Bean

Itís been a long time since Iíve been here. They offer organic and local ingredients, and fair trade coffee, so I really should be more enthusiastic about this place. For a long time, they placed an ad in the Noise [a free monthly arts rag] featuring a picture of absolutely luscious-looking grilled cheese sandwiches, and I would keep telling myself to go back.

Now that Country Host West is closed, I'm looking around for another place where I can get a good tuna melt. I finally tried the tuna melt here, and like the one at Country Host, it's decent but not outstanding. The best one I've found so far is at Crown Railroad. Galaxy Diner has a tuna sandwich, but it's not a true melt; same with the tuna sandwich at Cheba Hut.

The omelettes are decent but not great. The coffee is OK but not great. The bagel egg sandwich is good, but not as good as the fried egg sandwich at Galaxy. On the other hand, I can definitely think of worse places for breakfast.

My favorite coffee in town is Late for the Train, but again itís been ages since Iíve been there. Iíve heard good things about Matador, but itís in a bad location. I tried Wicked AZ once, and never again. I hate places that add water to espresso and try to pass it off as coffee.

And as for Macy's, I can't stand that place. Every time I did go there, the coffee was tepid and watery, and tasted like it had been filtered through layers of straw. I never understood why that place was so incredibly popular.
