Campus Coffee Bean

This place is a favorite hang-out for the NAU crowd. They offer organic and local ingredients, and fair trade coffee, so I really should be more enthusiastic about this place. While I don't think it's all that great, like Field House it's not all that bad.

The tuna melt here, like the one at Country Host, is decent but not outstanding. The best one I've found so far is at Crown Railroad. Galaxy Diner has a tuna sandwich, but it's not a true melt. The philly steak is quite good, though not as good as the one at Sportsman's.

The omelettes are decent but not outstanding. The bagel egg sandwich is good, but not as good as the fried egg sandwich at Galaxy. On the other hand, I can definitely think of worse places for breakfast.

I never thought the coffee was all that special, either. It's no longer self serve, and refills have jumped to 50 cents. On the other hand, the last time I was there, the coffee seemed better than usual. I'm not sure if they changed the brand, or if they're just doing a better job of serving it.

My favorite coffee in town is Late for the Train, but again it’s been ages since I’ve been there. I’ve heard good things about Matador, but it’s in a bad location. I tried Wicked AZ once, and never again. I hate places that add water to espresso and try to pass it off as coffee.

And as for Macy's, I can't stand that place. Every time I did go there, the coffee was tepid and watery, and tasted like it had been filtered through layers of straw from a hayloft. I never understood why that place was so incredibly popular.
