Years ago, there used to be a place on Arrowhead Ave called the Tamale Pot [it's now a dog groomer]. I don’t remember their tamales, but what I really went for was their stuffed sopapillas. Unfortunately, they suffered from Lola J and Teriyaki Express syndrome, taking forever to prepare an order. Satchmo's barbecue was there for a while, as were a couple of other places I can't remember because I never ate there. There are other good tamales in town (notably Molly's at the community market), but when I'm in the mood for truly great tamale, right here and right now, I’ll go to Oscar’s.
